Welcome to The Health Salon.
We, Dr. Jodi Rodar and Dr. Lisa Shea, are Chiropractors and have been in practice for 24 years.
We are passionate about Chiropractic medicine and Lifestyle medicine and have dedicated our professional and personal lives to the pursuit of knowledge and truth as it informs the quality of our health. We understand the powerful interconnection between our thoughts, our genetics, our environment and our lifestyle and their influence on our well being.
The intention of this website is to continue the endless conversations we start in the treatment room but don’t always have the time to complete. We hope to honor the desire of so many of our patients to learn the whys and hows of creating health.
To all our patients, we thank you for your patience…..(pun intended).

Dear Dr. Rodar,
I feel that my reading and education library has to be just about complete with the new addition of your “blog”.
It was, most definitely, worth the wait.
Looking forward to reading every word.
God has blessed you with an inquiring mind.
Thanks for sharing the fruits with us.
Alison
Dear Alison,
Thank you so much for reading the blog and offering your support. It is deeply appreciated.
I hope we can continue to offer you information that guides in your journey towards health.
Be well.
Hello to you both! First let me thank you for this incredibly helpful website. It has generated some great conversation between my husband and our friends about what “health” really means!
It also allows me to stay connected to the progerssive medical world – one that I am not sure exists in our new city.
I have just finished reading “Detoxify or Die” and have so many questions. I feel like I am just scratching the surface of a whole different world.
Although I have a notebook full of questions, my first is regarding the detox cocktail (only the first 3 ingredients) and prenatal vitamins. Are there any adverse side effects to taking them both? Although I am not pregnant, it is potentially part of my future. Can one continue the detox cocktail while pregnant?
Can you recommend any books or additional resources that can address my concerns about having a healthy body prior to becoming pregnant?
Thank you again for all that you do!
Jessica
Hi Jessica,
Great to hear from you! We are pleased to hear the Blog has offered some “food for thought”.
To answer your questions, we would not suggest you continue detoxification protocols when pregnant. With an increased mobilization of chemicals in the blood stream, the fetus would be dangerously subjected to high levels.
BUT, for couples/women planning on becoming pregnant, there is no act more powerfully positive for the future of that child than a well thought out plan of both detoxification and excellent nutrition. The combination gives a developing fetus and infant HUGE advantages over the rest of the population. The child’s central nervous system (**think brain development**), immune system and, actually, all systems will jump-start life with capabilities second to none.
Tremendous research has been conducted in recent years around the concept of “epigenetics”. In this case, we are saying that the parents-to-be have an amazing opportunity to directly influence the health of their child…for the entire lifetime of that child. Just think about the current epidemic of “autistic spectrum disorder” (i.e brain/central nervous system), and imagine what would happen if more “parents to br” were asking the questions that you are!
As far as books, we always divert to the knowledge that food is our medicine, and encourage you to read the book Nourishing Traditions, br Sally Fallon.
Sending you best wishes for a healthy journey.
Dear Jody and Lisa,
I love your Health Salon blog and am delighted that you are sharing your wealth of experience, knowledge and research in this way. I have finally put up my website; Moonrisemedicinals.com and would love to link your site. OK with you both?
Winter Blessings,
